Thanksgiving and Gratitude

Thanksgiving 2011 has come to a conclusion.  And, I have so much that I am thankful for – salvation, my husband, family, friends, my dog, our home, health.   I am also thankful for ceramics.  I love engaging with clay and the ceramic process.  I am also thankful for my studio, wheels, and kiln – all of which are blessings beyond what I could have asked for.  However, like most things, I don’t realize how much I take for granted until something goes awry.  Both Julie and I have L&L kilns – which have been fantastic.  However, my kiln failed a few weeks ago during a...

Open House and Studio Sale

Our first annual Open House and Studio Sale is complete and it was a success.  We really enjoyed visiting with everyone who stopped in.  The weather was so nice that we were able to keep the garage doors open.  And, because we were set up in the garage, we were able to work on glazing some pots as well.  Overall, it was a really great weekend.   Thanks to everyone for all your kind words and continued...

On making gifts

It is mid-November which means that gifts must be started very soon.  I thought I got a great start on the Advent calendar in July.  I made four sets of jars.  To date, I have glazed 1.5 sets of jars and Jeffrey has completed one of the new boxes.  This is how life is – something more urgent (not necessarily important) interrupts the progress.  I plan to glaze the balance of the jars this weekend and then fire them.  I hope to have two of the boxes for my family finished by Thanksgiving. There is a new Sous-Potter at Firetower Studio West!  Last week, Julie adopted  a 3-year old shepherd-mix from a rescue group.  Tori is very sweet and is adjusting to her forever-home very well.  Braum and I are excited about our new friend.
